May 2020 Issue of Gauzeitung Available Now

The pandemic has caused many changes -- including one to the Gauzeitung.  This quarter's issue is online instead of being mailed!  It's available to all, whether you subscribe or not. Please feel free to pass this information along to those in your Verein.  This 20-page issue includes articles about: Gauausschussversammlung meeting results; new Gau-Vereine; Mid-Atlantic Jugendeinzelplatteln in Lancaster; West Coast Bezirksfest in British Columbia; Bayern Verein Newark's virtual 90. Stiftungsfest; Volkstanz Workshop in Wisconsin.

2020 Ausschuss Meeting Summary

On Saturday, April 25, the Gauausschuss of Gau-NA had a video meeting to discuss the pressing business of our organization. We are all sorry that we were not able to meet as an Ausschuss and as a Gauverband as we were originally scheduled to do in Anaheim, California. The pandemic has caused an unprecedented situation for us, one that could not be foreseen in our Bylaws and Rules.

The minutes to the Gauausschussversammlung held on Saturday, April 25, 2020, are available to read online or download. The minutes were emailed to all Vereine today along with the following cover letter:

To all the Member Vereine of the Gauverband Nordamerika:

Yesterday, the members of the Gauausschuss had an online meeting to discuss some of the important matters that face our Gauverband, that would have normally been discussed at our Delegates Meeting which was scheduled to be held this weekend in Anaheim, CA.

Bayerischer Löwe 2020 -- Cancelled

The Bayerischer Löwe Preisplatteln scheduled for Diessen on June 6, 2020, has officially been cancelled as a result of health concerns and resulting mandates from the Bavarian state government.  No alternate dates are being planned for the fall given the uncertainty of the virus situation.  Huosigau is considering later alternatives to have a make-up Preisplatteln, and no host for the 2021 Bayerischer Löwe has been identified yet.  The status of this year’s eligible competitors is being discussed, with the possibility of allowing them to compete in 2021 alongside those that become eligible

2020 Bayerischer Löwe & Heimatfest in Diessen

Updated April 16, 2020: These events have been cancelled due to the mandates of the German government that no large gatherings may be held through August 31, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
