Remembering William Hubner

We are saddened to hear that William Hubner, the Gauverband's Ehrengaukassier, passed away on July 26, 2020.  William was elected as our Treasurer/Gaukassier at the Delegates Meeting held in Milwaukee in 1982 and served in that role until the meeting in Anaheim 2002, for a total of 20 years.  For his many years of service to the Gauverband, William was amongst the second class of officers ever to be named to an Ehren position in our Gauverband, when he was named Ehrengaukassier at the Executive Board Meeting in Buffalo 2003.

William was a well-respected Trachtler who made friends easily.  He had many Trachtenkameraden both here in North America and in Bayern, and to many he became "Onkel Willy."  At meetings, he gave accurate and concise reports, and was quick to interject a moment of humor as needed.  In his retirement, I often saw him and his wife, Linda, at various Feste, and it was always a pleasure to re-connect and share a story, a conversation, and often a good laugh.

William was also the father of our current 2.Gauvorstand, Joe Hubner.  We send our sincere condolences to the entire Hubner family.

Ruhe in Frieden.
