Submitted 5Jan2008 Gauarchivar Michael Olk traveled to Germany in November 2007. He spent a few days working and painting in the Haus der Bayerischen Trachtenkultur und Trachtengeschichte in Holzhausen. He is the first American Trachtler to actually donate his time to working on the restoration of the buildings which will eventually hold the archives of Trachten history. Michael also presented a check for $3,800.00 from contributions and memberships in America to Gerhard Hofstetter, the new 2.Vorsitzenden des Fördervereins. Michael also visited relatives on the Isle of Sylt in northern Germany and saw a Leonhardifahrt in Benediktbeuren. Read Michael's full story on pages 5-6 of the March issue of the Gauzeitung.
