Schuhplattler Verein Alpenklang
Troy, NYSchuhplattler Dancing- and - Alpine Bell Ringing
|
The Alpenschellen in English are called the Cowbells. These metal bells are tuned to 13 notes spanning one octave, C to C. Currently 5 members of our verein play the Alpenschellen. We have around 50 songs in our repertoire including traditional songs like "Du, du liegst mir im Herzen", "Im München steht ein Hofbräu Haus", and more modern songs like "Edelweiss".
We are fortunate to also have a member of our verein who plays the Alpenhorn. The Alpenhorn is a wooden horn that is about 12 feet long, straight with a slight curve at the mouth of the horn. It was originally used in the alpine regions to communicate long distances. It has a sound that carries well.
