~ Jugend Einzelplatteln Rules ~

General Rules

1. Age groups – Dirndl u. Buam

6 – 9 years old
10 – 12 years old
13 – 15 years old

2. A child may dance with a partner outside his/her age group. A child may dance
more than once. He/she will only be judged the first time he/she dances.

3. The diameter of the circle is 4 meters marked on the floor. The floor will be marked with black tape. An “X” will be in the middle of the circle.

4. After being introduced the couple will walk to the middle of the circle.

5. The boy will be asked “ (Boys name), are you ready?” When he replies yes, the music will begin.

6. If necessary the couple may start over once during the Eingangsplattler. The boy would indicate this by stepping outside the circle.

7. Any plattler may be chosen which consists of the Ausdrehen, Einstampf, Eingangsplattler, Trio, Durchplattler, Trio and Schlussfigur. Aufsprung is encouraged, but not mandatory of the boys.

8. A musician is required for the performance.

9. Tracht - Dirndl: Fest Tracht, Tanz Tracht, or Verein Dirndl may be worn. Hats optional. Buam: Verein Tracht, which corresponds, with the Dirndl they are dancing with. Hats optional. Follow your Verein protocol for Jugend Tracht.
Exception: Child’s partner is from another Verein. Then he/she should where what is required by their Verein.

10. Six judges will be critiquing the Jugend. Three judges for the boys and three judges for the girls. The judges who will be asked are on the current judging pools of the Mittelwest Bezirks Heimatfest and the Ontario/Western New York Jugendfest.

11. The attached score sheets indicate what the judge(s) will be looking for. The judge will critique the children in a positive manner as well as giving helpful hints to improve their dancing.

Please list children’s names in order with their partners. A boy or girl may dance
more than once. He or she will only be judged the first time he or she dances.
Please indicate with an asterisk if you prefer a child who is dancing more than once
to be judged first with a certain partner. The child may perform the plattler of his
choice.

· Overall personal appearance before and after the dance is completed.
· Hair is properly groomed
 
 Bua – Platteln
· Good Posture
· Spruenge were high and well timed and coordinated.
· Stamps were in time to the music.
· Stayed within own circle and faced Dirndl during the Plattler.
· Bua appears to enjoy dancing.
 Consider: good balance, smooth weight shifts leg to leg, “crisp”
Plattler, relaxed not robotic, good reach on Aufsprung, hand hits
shoe.
 Paar – Ausdrehen, Einholen, Rundgang
· Good posture
· Laendler was correctly danced
· Einholen was smooth and well timed
· Ausdrehen was smooth and well
timed
 Consider: Smooth catches with no stops; no pause at the end of
trio; couple looks comfortable together; Rundgang smooth no
pause, smiles, good posture.
 Complete Dance Presentation
· Dancers looked as though they were enjoying the dance
· Dance was lively and enjoyable to watch
· Dance was done in a relaxed, natural style
 Emphasis on how the dance looked overall.

· Dirndl is relaxed not stiff
 Consider: good balance, smooth weight shifts leg to leg, “crisp” Plattler, relaxed not robotic, good reach on Aufsprung, hand hits
