~ Excerpt from the By-laws / Satzung ~

Article One - Name

The name of this organization shall be "Gauverband Nordamerika, Inc." herein referred to as "Gauverband" incorporated in the District of Columbia on April 10, 1970.

Article Two - Purpose

The purpose of the Gauverband shall be to further the common goals and interests of its member Vereine in regard to the preservation and perpetuation of Bavarian and Tirolian folk dancing, Tracht, customs and culture, and the establishment of mutual fellowship.

Article Three - Membership

A. The Gauverband may be joined only by Vereine who further Bavarian and Tirolian folk dancing, Tracht, customs and culture. Each member Verein must possess traditional Gebirgstracht. Any Verein making application to join the Gauverband shall have been in existence for a minimum of three (3) years at the time of application. Complete Bylaws Availability

At the biennial Delegates Meetings (May of "even" years), the delegates act on proposed bylaw changes. The Bylaws Committee rolls in the wording of the approved changes at the next year's Gau-Ausschuss Meeting (March of "odd" years). The Gauschriftführer mails the updated Bylaws, along with the minutes of the Gau-Ausschuss meeting, to each Verein's contact person, to the Richter (judges), and to the Gau-Ausschuss members after the meeting. The Bylaws and Operating Rules, Preisplatteln Rules, and Tracht Guidelines are published in the Trachten-Kalendar, which is available from the Gau-Pressewart, Wilhelm Banzhaf.
