Delegates approve donation to Holzhausen

submitted 9May2008 by C. Marquardt. At the Delegate's Meeting in St. Paul, Michael Olk, Gau Archivar, presented a workshop on Gau History. Sunday morning when he presented his report on the workshop a motion was made and passed for Gauverband Noramerika to send a $500 donation to the Bayerische Förderverein for the Haus der bayerischen Trachtenkultur in Holzhausen. The motion was ammended to include a matching donation to the German American center in Washington, D.C.. The donations will be sent in 30 days to allow time for Vereine or individuals to make further donations and combined checks will be sent. Donations can be sent to John Blank, Gaukassier: 157 Amsterdam Road, Lancaster, PA. |

Bayerns Trachtler celebrate 125 Jahre Trachtenvereine in Bayern

submitted 6May2008 by C. Marquardt. May 4, 2008 the Bayerischen Rundfunk broadcast a television program called "Bayerns Trachtler feiern". The program was filmed on April 13, 2008 in the Hofbräukeller in Munich. It included singing, music, dancing, platteln and drehen of Trachtler from all over Bavaria. They told about their love and passion for "Trachtensach". Landesvorsitzender Otto Dufter and his wife Hilde were interviewed. His Königliche Hoheit Herzog Max in Bayern also took part. This is part of the ongoing celebration of 125 Jahre of Trachtenvereine in Bayern to bring awareness to Tracht and Heimatliebe.

Should the Gauzeitung be electronic or paper?

At the Delegate's Meeting May 3-4 in St. Paul, Minnesota Gaupressewart Willi Banzhaf announced that he will be retiring from the Gauzeitung at the end of this year. He will sell his printing/publishing business and no longer be able to print the GZ. Gauvorstand Tom Vogt is considering successors and will announce his appointment in 90 days. Do you think the Gauzeitung should be electronic in the future? Do you think it should be offered as emailed electronic version and hard copy in the mail also? 2011 Gaufest will be June 30 - July 3, 2011 hosted by S.T.V. Maiglöckchen in Orlando, FL. Fest ticket $160 adults, $50 children. Location: Rosen Shingle Creek Resort, Orlando. Hotel $139. |

Ever thought you'd like to be a Gau Richter? Has someone in your Verein told you that you'd be a good judge? We are looking for a few good people to potentially become Gaurichter for Gauverband Nordamerika.
If you are interested, please contact Walter Kraft-Gauschriftführer to receive an application form. Fill it out completely and submit it to the Gauausschuß for review. If accepted, you will be informed by one of the Gau dance officers.
We are looking for you if you have been a long time dancer, have preferably held a dance office in your Verein, and are willing to learn the judging system and apply it while judging the Preisplattler at a Gaufest.

125 Jahre Trachtenvereine in Bayern

 submitted 8March, 2008 by C. Marquardt The Bayerische Trachtenverband will celebrate the 125th Anniversary of Trachtenvereine in Bayern by bringing special attention to the Trachteng'wand. They have created a unique logo and a motto, "Jahr der G'wandkultur" to help publicize this theme throughout 2008. In the center of the logo is the Bavarian Raute in blue, the Fränkischen Rechens in red, and a Trachten hat as a symbol for Tracht and Bavarian G'wand. Around the logo are the words Tracht, Wertvoll, Bodenständig, Zeitlos. (Tracht: valuable, original, timeless).
May 4 the Bayerischen Fernsehen will broadcast a program about the anniversary. June 22 the Oberlandler Gauverband will hold a Dankmesse in Baiernrain at the grave of Lehrer Joseph Vogl, the founder of the first Trachtenverein in Bavaria in Bayrischzell. July 4-7 there will be festivities in Bayrischzell. A Jubiläumswallfahrt will take place in Altötting on Sunday, September 28; 15,000 Trachtler have already registered. The Miesbacher Tracht was chosen as "Tracht of the Year" in Germany.
